Sandra Hamaoui has been praised for her “homogenous and flexible voice of fine velvet” in addition to her “musicality and finesse of expression”. Described as “heartfelt” and “prodigious”, her true talent lies not just in her effortless vocal technique and musicality, but also in her ability to fully captivate the audience.
In 2024/25, Ms. Hamaoui makes several notable debuts: she opens the season at Staatsoper Hamburg with a unique Calixto Bieito production of Trionfi, singing the lead soprano in Carmina Burana with Maestro Kent Nagano at the podium. She then reprises the role of Leïla in Les Pêcheurs de Perles in concert with Musical Guest. Ms. Hamaoui brings her acclaimed interpretation of Constance in Robert Carsen’s Les Dialogues des Carmélites at Palau Les Arts Valencia. Finally, she returns to Théâtre des Champs Elysées for Werther.
Previously, as an ensemble member at Opernhaus Zürich, Ms. Hamaoui appeared as Gilda in Rigoletto, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Constance in a new production of Les Dialogues des Carmèlites, Nanetta in Falstaff under the baton of music director Gianandrea Noseda, Gretel in Robert Carsten’s new production of Hänsel und Gretel, Sophie in Werther, and Lisette in La Rondine. Other notable engagements include: Leïla in Les Pêcheurs de Perles at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées and the title role of Roméo et Juliette with l’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève.
Sandra is a multi-faceted chameleon on stage, with an ability to captivate in all settings: from intimate art song to the vast operatic. Her fluency in multiple languages (French, Italian, Spanish, English) makes her an honest and communicative interpreter. She is deeply inspired by contemporary art and design.
